Two people died late Thursday afternoon from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash on KY 3001 at Bobs Creek.

Roston Bray III, 37, of Cawood, and Stephanie Fultz, 30, of Cawood, died shortly after the crash at Harlan ARH Hospital.

According to a press release, Fultz and Bray were both pinned in the vehicle. The Harlan County Rescue Squad and Martins Fork Fire Department were summoned to the scene to extricate the occupants from the vehicle. LifeCare EMS transported both to the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead by Harlan County Deputy Coroner Jim Rich.

Kentucky State Police Collision Reconstructionist Trooper Kenneth Sergent is in charge of the investigation.

Troopers responded to the scene and found that a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Fultz, was traveling northbound on KY 3001. As the vehicle entered a curve, the operator lost control and careened off the roadway, striking two parked vehicles and a building before coming to final rest.

Rich said Fultz was reportedly on her way to work at Papa John’s in Harlan and had picked up Bray to give him a ride.

Both were pronounced dead at the ARH emergency room by Rich.

Sergent was assisted at the scene by KSP Sgt. Jeremy Lee, Troopers Jimmy Halcomb, Andy Soltess, Kevin Miller and Kenny Abner.

Henson and Rich Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Bray and Fultz.
