Multi-vehicle accident sends four to hospital

PIGEON ROOST — Firefighters from Henlawson Fire Department responded to a multi-vehicle accident that occurred in front of the West Virginia State Police Logan Detachment at 11:55 a.m. Sat., June 14, on old Rt. 10.

Upon arrival, several vehicles sustained heavy damage due to an alleged distracted driver who crossed the center line and struck a vehicle that was hauling a Jeep on a car carrier.

The trailer broke free from the vehicle and spun out of control, stopping in the opposite lane.

During the accident, an unoccupied vehicle was also hit resulting in serious injuries to a pedistrian. The victim was flown out via Air Evac 85 to a Charleston area hospital from the Pecks Mill Bridge, which was shut down to accommodate the landing of the Medical helicopter.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the WVSP, and there are currently no known pending charges.

Three other people were also transported to Logan Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were unknown at this time.

Route 10 was closed for about two hours while crews investigated and cleared debris.
