Once again Senator Joe Manchin showed his true colors when he recently voted in favor of abortion on demand. Of course his press release couches his efforts in high-sounding euphemistic terms to disguise the truth. I believe the Logan Banner article called it “a vote to invoke cloture”, but it was essentially a vote against individual American freedoms and a vote for abortion on demand. Hollywood Joe has learned well from his mentor and close friend Barack.
The US Supreme Court ruled that Hobby Lobby, a privately held corporation could not be forced to provide the day after (abortion) pill to their employees. Hobby Lobby is a private business, owned by Christian believers who are not in favor of abortion. So, they sought a resolution from the Supreme Court under the premise that no one can be forced to perform or assist in the performance of acts that are against their religious beliefs. The Court agreed and Hobby Lobby won. But, whenever the Court upholds the Constitution, liberal Democrats like Joe Manchin quickly come out to fight against it.
In Joe’s press release he is quoted as saying, “for profit corporations do not have the same legal privileges as non-profits, and therefore they should not have the same protections as non-profits”… This is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. Laws governing non-profits and for profit corporations are relative to tax law, not civil law. Just because someone owns their business doesn’t mean they can be forced to participate in something they find objectionable on religious grounds. If it weren’t so, Joe and Barack would have us all bowing toward Mecca for morning and even prayers!
Joe goes on to say that his only interest is to “ensure that all Americans have access to safe, affordable and reliable preventative health benefits”. Of course the truth is Hobby Lobby is only asking that they not be forced to participate in abortions. So, I guess in Joe’s mind, preventing the birth of an innocent child by aborting it is actually “healthcare”. Go figure.
Here is the truth. Hobby Lobby does not object to women’s health care. In fact they do not object to any of the normal preventative health care needs of anyone. They even agreed to provide birth control devices and medications for all of their female employees. Their only objection was to four specific kinds of new drugs and devices that are essentially abortion aids. The Hobby Lobby owners do not want to participate in nor fund the murdering of children; and to this position, Joe Manchin objects.
Joe, I have an idea. Why don’t you see if your buddy Barack has a spare bedroom you can move into up in DC. God knows, you sure as heck don’t represent the beliefs of West Virginias!
By the way, Joe and Barack lost this one. But, don’t fear, I’m sure he will be back with more efforts to “help us” do what is right … like gun control, cap and trade, open borders, more welfare spending, … no thanks Joe.
