The City of Logan announced on August 8 that the Central City Walk Bridge will be closed beginning August 11 for the staging process to begin demolition. They conducted a pre-bid construction meeting yesterday morning at 10 a.m.

“We are excited for the process to begin and ask that all residents and students be patient with us during this time,” they announced on their Facebook page. “The new construction will be something we can all be proud of.”

What started approximately five years ago is now coming into fruition for the city staff, and they could not be more excited.

Mayor Serafino Nolletti said that they will be working closely with the Logan County Board of Education during this process.

“We’re going to do our best to make sure that the kids and parents will be least affected as possible,” Nolletti said. “We’re really excited about this process, and we’re really looking forward to seeing the new bridge. It’s greatly needed.”

Trite Construction has been hired as contractors to work on the project. This is the same company that is working on the bridge on the east end of Logan around Chase Bank. Construction will cost approximately $500,000. The project is estimated to last 6 months.

The city says they plan to keep the school and public informed as the project progresses.
