The Buffalo Creek Memorial Library celebrated the success of another great summer reading program on July 29 with a pool party. This year’s theme was called “Fizz, Boom, and Read!” and was all about science.
The kids had a lot of fun this year learning about dinosaurs, experimenting with chemical reactions, learning the science of music, grossology and learning how to make their own fossils.
BCML’s Elizabeth Tackett said that the program had over 60 participants. Each of those children were invited to take part in the pool party where they were awarded with certificates and t-shirts.“Fizz, Boom, Read” was a great opportunity for younger kids and older kids alike to “Spark a Reaction.” The program lasted for six weeks, from June 17 through July 29.
The End of Summer Reading Pool Party lasted from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Larry Joe Harless Center in Gilbert. The librabry paid for admission for over 50 attendees, including parents. They also provided pizza and drinks.
This year’s summer reading program, along with the other children’s programs at BCML, was sponsored by the WSAZ TV Charitable Foundation. The end of the year pool party was sponsored by Friends of the Library.
Tackett has also announced that the pre-school story hour will begin again in September. For more information, contact the BCML at 304-583-7887.
