MADISON - The Chapmanville Regional High School girls' basketball team won its seventh straight game with Thursday night's 72-28 blowout win at Scott.

Chapmanville improved to 12-5 overall and 6-4 in the Cardinal Conference with the victory. Scott fell to 3-13, 0-11.

The Lady Tigers swept the season series with the Lady Hawks, also owning an 86-25 victory at home earlier in the season over their Corridor G rivals.

With the win, Chapmanville also improved to 6-2 against Class AA sectional foes.

The Lady Tigers, which split with county rival Logan this season, are fighting it out for the top seed for the upcoming sectional tournament. Section coaches will be voting on the seedings soon.

CRHS was led by Kara Browning's 18 points. Reese Ellis tossed in 14 points. Both made four 3-pointers on the night.

Madison Webb netted 12 points and Olivia Dalton 11 for the Lady Tigers. Brooklyn Evans had six, Alexis Toler and Jayde Kuenzel had four each and Haven Adkins had three points. Diana Birchfield led Scott with eight points.

Chapmanville jumped on top 29-2 after one quarter and coasted. CRHS led 45-8 at the half and 58-16 after three.

"We got off to a really fast start and led 15-0," CRHS coach Johnny Williamson said. "We had four players in double figures by halftime. We didn't play great in the second half. We will start preparing for Mingo."

Chapmanville is scheduled to return to action with Monday's home game with Mingo Central. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. CRHS then hosts Man on Wednesday, February 7 before heading to Nitro on Thursday, Feb. 8. The regular season finale is set for February 12 at home against No. 3-ranked Wayne (17-1).
