Tonia Handley/Coal Valley News Sherman High's Dejah Busby goes up strong to the bucket as Scott's Chloe Older (23) defends on the play. Sherman won the game 56-34 on Jan. 15, 2018.

SETH - Sherman's Lady Tide Hoops squad remained unbeaten last week with a 56-34 win over cross-county foe Scott High School.

Sherman Coach Terri Dawn Williams said her squad had to overcome some mental errors in the game.

"We started slow but settled down in the second quarter," she said. "Our defense really played good for most of the night. We struggled at times on offense and had some silly mistakes and turnovers."

Sherman (10-0) received a stellar effort from Dejah Busby, who netted 26 points on her way to a double-double while adding 13 rebounds. Amber Maloskey had 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals, making her presence known for the Lady Tide. Busby has added a perimeter presence to her post game, making the 6-foot-2 student athlete even harder to defend for opposing teams.

Sherman was ranked No. 6 in Class A entering the contest with the Class AA Cardinal Conference Lady Skyhawks. Scott (2-10) has dropped four games in a row.

For Sherman, Caraline Nelson had 5 points and 3 steals, Abby Riley 6 points and 5 rebounds and Zoie Hess added 4 points.

For Scott, Chloe Older scored 6, Dianna Birchfield had 5, Sara Mayse netted 6, Brooke Burns had 5, Kaylee Justice scored 2, Allie Matthews had 5, Emily Scott scored 1, Hannah Boyd had 3 and Emma Harmon had 1.

Sherman will travel to Hannan on Jan. 25, while Scott will play at Mingo Central on Jan. 26.
