VAN - The Van High School hoops squad advanced in the West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament with a win over Doddridge County on Jan. 26.

The Van Bulldogs (7-3) took an early 14-7 lead and took an 18-point lead to the locker room at intermission before winning big, 70-36.

"We played really well defensively and solid on the offensive end," said Van High Coach Dave Gogas.

As a team, Van hit nine 3-point shots in the game, led by leading scorer Taylor Jarrell's five.

The squad maintained a defensive intensity throughout the game according to Gogas.

Van held Doddridge to six fourth-quarter points, completing their defensive dominance. Doddridge (4-6) is currently on a four-game losing streak, having last tasted victory in a Dec. 29 win over Ritchie County.
