Marshall University recognized a local high school at a recent event held in Huntington.

Logan High School’s Broadcasting program, under the direction Bill France, received top honors on Friday, March 14th, by being awarded first place. The honor was given as part of United High School Media Day, an annual event host by Marshall University. Schools from all across West Virginia showcase their best journalism programs. The event is designed to give students a chance to learn and network with other high schools. In addition to broadcasting, print journalism, yearbook design, advertising and public relations are also part of the event.

The students also came in first place in the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism’s Media Challenge. They were presented with a trophy, which will be housed at the school until next year’s event. Students were quizzed on all areas of Journalism and current events.

The broadcasting program’s website for www.WLHSTV.com won second place honors for being an outstanding online news source that is maintained by its students.
