Professional and service personnel of the Logan County Board of Education will receive pay raises in the next school year.
At the BOE meeting held April 10, the increase was unanimously approved. The raise, which is an increase of $1,000 for professional and $500 for service personnel, will take effect July 1 for the 2014-2015 school year.
Current averages of personnel for the 2014-2015 school year ranks Logan County as the 25th highest salary for the state for professional personnel and 24th for service personnel. As of now, this increase would move Logan County to the 15th highest average salary for professional personnel and 19th for service personnel.
The BOE also approved an increase in annual optical and dental benefits for its employees. This approval will increase coverage for type three dental services from 75 percent to 100 percent and the annual dental coverage maximum to $2,000. Annual vision benefits will increase to $350.
Additional items approved include parent volunteers from Logan High, Man High, and Man Middle and an agreement with Logan County Schools and West Virginia University to allow student teachers in the schools.
The next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting will be held Thurs., April 24, at 6 p.m. at the Ralph R. Willis Career Technical Center.
