HAZARD—County clerks from Leslie, Letcher, and Perry counties presented a check to the Eastern Kentucky Veterans’ Center in Hazard on Wednesday for $10,000. The money was raised from the sales of homemade birdhouses, which the clerks’ offices have been doing since 2008.

Neil Napier, recreation director at the center, said the clerks’ offices have always helped raise money for the center, one of only three in the state, to buy things like wheelchairs, computers, and exercise and nursing equipment.
