LOGAN – Saturday, August 24, 2013, was a day of hope and thanks for dozens of current and former cancer patients who took part in Logan’s Cancer Survivors Day. Logan Regional Cancer Center, in cooperation with Logan Regional Medical Center, hosted their first celebration of life in Logan.
Locally, more than 120 patients, survivors, physicians, nurses, caregivers and their families gathered for an afternoon of activities in the Life Services Center parking lot on Holden Road. Live music was provided by the Daddy Rabbit Band. Food was provided by Logan Regional. Guest speakers included; Rev. Audie Murphy, John E.Walker, CEO, Dr. Waris A.Waris, Dr. Kirti K. Jain & Tammy Johnson.
Cancer Survivors across the United States participate in celebration of personal and medical triumphs over the disease that was once believed to be uncontrollable. This event provides a source of hope for those currently battling this disease. Cancer remains one of the nation’s leading killers, but researchers continue to make progress in the treatment.
The message of the survivors is clear: Don’t give up. There’s hope.
