At least two people were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville as the result of a two-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon. The wreck happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy. 33 and Mountain Road, just south of DeRoyal Industries in New Tazewell. According to witnesses at the scene it appeared to be a “T-bone style” impact between a car and small truck. The drivers, both male, were flown to UT. Officials said that one driver was partially ejected from his vehicle and the other driver had to be partially extricated. The conditions of the drivers are unknown at this time and the names have not been released. The New Tazewell Police Department, Tazewell-New Tazewell Volunteer Fire Department, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Claiborne County EMS and South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene. The Claiborne Progress will have more information as it becomes available. (Photo submitted)
