MAN, WV – December 17, 2013 – Cliffs Natural Resources Inc., (NYSE: CLF) (Paris: CLF), announced today that employees at its Cliffs Logan County Coal (CLCC) operations, through the organization of the CLCC Diversity and Inclusion group, provided a Christmas celebration and presents to residents of the Trinity Health Care nursing home facility in Logan, W.V.

“This was one of the greatest acts of generosity that I’ve ever witnessed both personally and professionally,” said Tom Smith, CLCC general manager. “The employees throughout our operations put in the time and effort to buy gifts, donate money, and to show up to distribute presents and spend time with the residents. This shows how selfless our employees are and that they take community involvement to heart and I’m proud of every one of them for that.”

The employees of CLCC were able to furnish presents to over 110 residents at the facility as well a Christmas luncheon that included holiday festivities and a visit from Santa Clause.

“Christmas with Cliffs will be a day that both our residents but the staff will never forget,” said Mark Noe, administrator of Trinity Health Care’s Logan facility. “I don’t think the men and women who participated in this event will ever know how much they touched the lives of our residents,” added Noe. “They didn’t just bring gifts, they brought a smile, they brought hope, and they brought love. With each handshake, with each hug, with each smile, they showed our resident’s that they matter. We are forever grateful to Cliffs for such a wonderful Christmas celebration.”

In addition to the CLCC operations, Cliffs operates the Pinnacle Mining Complex in Wyoming County and the Oak Grove mine and Concord Prep Plant in Jefferson County, Alabama. Cliffs North American Coal operations employ more than 1,500 and have a combined local annual economic impact of $500 million.
