The Logan Area Public Library celebrated the success of another great summer reading program on July 29 with a pizza party. This year’s theme was called “Fizz, Boom, and Read!” and was all about science.
The kids had a lot of fun this year learning about dinosaurs, experimenting with chemical reactions, learning the science of music, grossology and learning how to make their own fossils.
Each child was awarded a certificate for participation. In addition, many kids were recognized for their dedication to reading with awards such as reading the most books and perfect attendance.
Kaylee Sheppard won first place by reading 113 books this summer, Olivia Marcum won second place with 75 books and Evan Marcum won third place prize with 65 books. Ten kids received awards for perfect attendance this year: Allie Burton, Caleb Burgess, Tristan Burgess, Danielle Mahone, Molly Mahone, Rebekah Mahone, Evan Marcum, Olivia Marcum, Lucas Maynard, and Evelyn Ward.
“We are so proud of all of our little readers,” the LAPL staff said.
Local sponsors for this year’s Summer Reading Program were Bob Noone, Elizabeth and Doug Witten,Wooten-Willis Nationwide Insurance and the Logan County Board of Education.
