MAN — Man High School football coach Harvey Arms didn’t hold a spring scrimmage on Wednesday.

When Mount View came to Man they weren’t playing football.

But it sure looked like a football score with what looked like a couple of touchdowns and a field goal.

Instead, the Hillbillies and the Golden Knights played baseball as Man rocked Mount View 17-0 at Man High School’s Dr. Juan Nordelo Field.

Man starting pitching Mikle Scott Rowe led the Billies to victory as he notched the win on the mound and also had two hits, including a home run, and three RBI.

Freshman Cameron Simpson, the younger brother to former Man standout and current West Virginia State baseball player Jordan Simpson, had two hits as well. Tyler Blair also knocked in a pair.

Man improved to 12-6 on the season with the win.

The Billies plated eight runs in the first inning and nine more in the second to take a 17-0 lead.

After two and a half more scoreless innings the game was called in the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Mount View didn’t help any matters by committing four errors. The Billies had none.

No further details were available on the game.

Man had a doubleheader at home with Tug Valley on Tuesday night rained out. The first game was the continuation of an earlier game this season at Naugatuck which was suspended with the Billies leading the Panthers 7-0 in the third inning.

Man was slated to return to the diamond with Thursday night’s game at Sherman. Man then hosts Liberty-Raleigh on Saturday at 5 p.m., before going to Westside on Monday. On Tuesday, Man hosts River View in a makeup game at 6 p.m. Then on May 7, Man goes to county rival Chapmanville. Man hosts its other county rival, Logan, on May 8 before closing out May 9 at Charleston Catholic.

The following week, Man hosts a best-of-three Class A sectional series with Tug Valley.
