The 9-10-year-old and 11-12-year-old District 2 Little League All-Star baseball tournaments are just around the corner.


The Madison Little League hosts the 9-10 tourney, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday and run until Wednesday, July 2.


The Chapmanville Little League and Tracy Vickers Field is the host of the upcoming 11-12-year-old District 2 tourney which runs July 7-12. Chapmanville will also host this year’s state tournament, which is scheduled to begin on July 18 and will be held at both Tracy Vickers Field and Ronnie Ooten Field at Chapmanville Regional High School.


Only seven teams are in each of the two district tourneys, which are double elimination.


In the 9-10 tournament at Madison, Welch and Pineville play the first game on Saturday at 2 p.m. Wharton-Barrett and host Madison follow at 4. Chapmanville takes on Tug Valley at 6 p.m.


Then on Sunday, Matewan squares off with the Welch/Pineville winner at 2 p.m. Two other games follow at 4 and 6.


Advancing teams then play on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night.


The finals are July 2 at 7 p.m., with both teams advancing to the state tournament.


In the 11-12-year-old District 2 tournament at Chapmanville, Tug Valley battles with Pineville in the July 7 opener at 6 p.m. Madison plays Welch at 8 p.m. in the nightcap.


Then on Tuesday, July 8, Chapmanville takes on Man at 6 p.m. in a battle of Logan County teams. Mullens and the Tug Valley/Pineville winner face off in the 8 p.m. game.


On July 9, the Madison/Welch winner plays the Chapmanville/Man winner at 6 p.m. Then at 8, the two losers play.


Two more games are set to be played on July 10 and July 11 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night.


The 11-12 finals are July 12 at a time to be announced later. The district champion and runner-up move on to play in the state tournament the following week, also at Chapmanville.


* The 7-8-year-old District 2 Coach Pitch Tournament resumed on Monday at Man’s Tommy Keffer Field as Chapmanville played Pineville and Tug Valley squared off with Delbarton.


Tug Valley beat Delbarton, a Mingo County foe, 18-7. TV is now 2-1 in pool play, while Delbarton is 0-2.


No score was available on the Chapmanville game.


On Tuesday night, Pineville played Delbarton and Welch battled with Mullens.


Chapmanville plays Delbarton at 6 p.m. and Man squares off with Tug Valley at 8 on Wednesday night.


Thursday night’s games have Madison playing Sandy River at 6 p.m. and Man taking on Chapmanville at 8.


The two semifinals are set for Friday at 6 and 8.


The championship game is Saturday at 7 p.m.
