NAUGATUCK – The Tug Valley Panthers will try to get back on the winning side after losing their last two games. Coach Tony Clusky’s squad is now 2-3 on the season and will host East Ridge, Ky. on Friday night.


The Panthers lost to Haysi, Va. last week and to Tolsia the week before that.


The Warriors invade Naugatuck with a 4-2 record and are coached by Brad Allen.


East Ridge has several running backs that may carry the pigskin for the Pike County, Kentucky squad.


They include Jacob Skeens who has five touchdowns (TDs) and 415 yards rushing and Michael Fields who has 411 rushing yards and four TDs. Caleb Skeens has three TDs and 243 yards on the ground, while quarterback Barry Young has thrown for four TDs this season. Tug Valley is led by sophomore fullback Phillip Lucas who has 319 yards on 60 carries and senior David Runyon who has 269 yards on 63 attempts.


Aaron Copley has eight receptions for 164 yards and a pair of TDs and Austin Baisden has three catches for 63 yards and two TDs.


Tyler Conley, Tug’s sophomore quarterback, is 31-for-62 for a 50 percent completion percentage with 405 yards, five TDs, no interceptions. Conley also leads the team in tackles with 27, while Lucas has 19, Chad Hundley and Runyon 17 each, Jonathan Farley 16 and Thomas Baisden 15 stops.


Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
