West Chapmanville Grade School is recognizing the importance of leadership. On Tues., Oct. 29, 2013, the school’s leadership team hosted its first “Leadership Day.” The event allowed the school’s third and fourth grade students to participate in a round-table discussion with several community leaders.
Students asked the panel questions about leadership characteristics, challenges in the workplace, and the importance of education. The leadership team was responsible for coordinating and facilitating the event.
Principal Doug Barrett said the school is planning to have a new leadership team for each ten weeks of the year, and each team will have a new leadership-minded project to complete. The students on West Chapmanville Grade School’s first leadership team were Natalie Beichner, Sydney Belcher, Hayden Farley, Aaron Fletcher, and Kaitlynn Woody.
