West Chapmanville Grade School selected its Student Leadership Team for the 2nd grading period. Neylan McEuen, Silas Frye, Monica Chapman, Tyson Thompson, and Scout Adams are stepping up and making a difference within the school.
The team’s first service project was to help raise items needed for a community Thanksgiving Day dinner. The dinner, organized by Ronald Jones and his wife has helped feed hundreds of people in Chapmanville community over the past several years.
Students have organized the project and set a goal to collect $1,500 of cans and boxed items. Each student leader is assigned to three or four classrooms and is in charge of motivating the students, sending home information, and keeps track of the total amount of goods collected.
“The students are excited to help Mr. Jones in collecting items for the Thanksgiving Day dinner,” says Principal Doug Barrett. “The students know that their time and effort are going to a worthy cause. I couldn’t be more proud of the leadership team and their hard work.”
