CHAPMANVILLE — When Chapmanville native Derek Dalton decided to open Rebound Physical Therapy & Sports Performance in May 2012, the goal was to provide patients in southern West Virginia with high quality and effective physical therapy services. Since that time, Dr. Dalton has become the area’s only Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). This credential demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in the management of orthopaedic conditions.
Recently, Dr. Dalton completed intensive training in Functional Dry Needling in Reston, Va. This treatment option allows for the assessment and treatment of chronic pain and soft tissue dysfunction. For patients with long-standing pain, dry needling offers a new treatment option most have not been exposed too. In dry needling, a small filiform needle is used to penetrate dysfunctional muscles creating a response that allows the tissues to “reset”. In combination with corrective exercise and education, dry needling can be a powerful tool in treating pain and helping patients return to activities they enjoy.
As the area’s only provider of Dry Needling, Rebound Physical Therapy continues to bring cutting edge therapy options to the region. Dr. Dalton and his staff, consisting of Logan native David Summers, PTA also provide professional physical therapy services for all orthopaedic, post-surgical, and work-related injuries. In many cases, no referral is necessary and most insurances are accepted.
