Forty years ago this month, nearly 400 seniors at Logan High School were crossing the stage at what was then Logan Memorial Fieldhouse to receive their diplomas. On Friday, June 20, they will gather in Logan to celebrate that day four decades ago.

The countdown has begun for members of the LHS Class of 1974 to contact organizers Barbara Conn Stambaugh, Cheryl Mullins Taylor and Leah Ferguson Luptak about their intentions to participate in the three-day – Friday through Sunday, June 20-22 — weekend celebration.

Luptak is encouraging classmates to contact Stambaugh as soon as possible in order to finalize arrangements.

The schedule is as follows:

— 5:30 p.m. Friday get-together will be held at BJs in Logan.

— 1 p.m. Saturday memorial service will be held in the Little Theater at Logan High School.

— 6:30 p.m. Saturday dinner dance will begin with the class photograph at the Logan Country Club on Route 10 north of Chapmanville.

— Noon Sunday family picnic at the first shelter left of the Y at Chief Logan State Park at Henlawson.

Members of the class are asked to contact Stambaugh at stambaugh22@frontier.com or call 304-239-0043. Callers who do not receive an answer are asked to leave a voicemail message. Her mailing address is Box 10, Wilkinson WV 25653.

The fee for all three days is $100 for classmates and $50 for guests.

Payment of $100 includes all events, a t-shirt, photo or video. They are now being accepted.

Graduates are asked to make a note in the memo section of their check or send a separate note detailing what events they plan to attend or if they are interested in purchasing t-shirts, photos or videos.

Those who are unable to attend but wish to purchase a t-shirt, photo or video may do so for $10 each.

Luptak continues to collect contact information at leahluptak@sbcglobal.net.

A closed Facebook page is designated for members of the Class of ’74. To be accepted on the page, send a friendship request to Stambaugh or Luptak.

Luptak also issued a reminder that the class is establishing a voluntary gift fund with proceeds from a silent auction being held Saturday. Funds collected will provide a gift to Logan High School from the class.

Those wishing to donate to the fund may do so on a voluntary basis. Contributions will be accepted during the reunion.

June 20 is fast approaching and Stambaugh, Taylor and Luptak urge their classmates to contact them about their plans to participate in the 40-year reunion.
