Logan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary members attended the annual Auxiliary of West Virginia Hospital Association (AWVHA) State Workshop at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W.Va., on May 12-14, 2014. The event offered workshops on topics which included Health Info On The Web, Constructive Anger, Alzheimers, Positive Aspects of the Aging Brain, Tai Chi and Nutrition Labels.


Logan Auxiliary members attending the event were President Beverly Roark, Vice President-President Elect Betty Lambert and District Counselor Gay Cook.


Cook, Southeastern District Counselor, was facilitator for the class on Positive Aspects of the Aging Brain. The instructor, Dr. John Oughton, a teaching assistant professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in WVU College of Education and Human Services, presented an informative and interesting program.


Cook attended several Board meetings and President Beverly Roark and President-Elect Betty Lambert attended President’s meetings. Roark also attended nomination committee meetings.


Entertainment for Monday evening included games and door prizes and Tuesday’s entertainment was country music presented by country music group “Old Friends.” Door prizes were won by Logan attendees, Betty Lambert and Gay Cook.


The Southeastern District will host the Annual State AWVHA meeting at the Greenbrier Sept. 24-26, 2014. The Logan Auxiliary was nominated to create the table decorations and the Boone County Auxiliary was nominated to create programs for the event. AWVHA State office nominations for the 2014-2016 were: President Anne McKnight, President Elect Koneda Devrick, Vice President Ginger Aulick and Treasurer Flora Waite. The state officers will be sworn in at the Greenbrier meeting in September.
