Ola Mae Bryant Sharp Allen Robinson was honored for her 98th birthday with a party/cookout on Sat., July 26, 2014, at her home in Kistler. She was surrounded by her many family and friends who celebrate with a cookout yearly in her honor.
Ola Mae was born July 31, 1916 in Africa. According to her memory, she traveled by boat with her mother, Mattie Bryant, and aunts, Bessie Mae and Stella, from Africa to Florida and then on to Cairo, Ga. She then recalls traveling by train with her family from Georgia to West Virginia when she was around five years of age.
She was raised at Braeholm on Buffalo Creek and attended Fanco High School which was located in Riley Camp. She moved from Braeholm to Bengal Hollow in Kistler where she currently resides.
At 98, Ola Mae still moves about with the assistance of a cane, and her mind is very sharp. She loves to sit and talk about the old days, recalling so much history that she has been blessed to be a part of.
