Delegate Rupie Phillips and Ted Tomblin are pleased to announce that Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has approved their grant request to fund the construction of an accessible fishing area along Buffalo Creek.
“The Bufallo Creek Watershed Association has done a tremendous job with keeping Buffalo Creek in A Number-1 condition,” Delegate Phillips said. “They are very good an litter cleanup, stream restoration and providing activities for kids. We are thrilled provide assistance.”
Delegate Tomblin agreed that the organization is invaluable not just for cleanup and restoration efforts, but for regularly providing area children with healthy enjoyment.
“I appreciate them for their dedication to youths and getting them involved in outdoor activities,” Tomblin said. “They’ve cleaned up the creek to something we can be proud of.”
The delegates will present a $5,000 grant to the Logan County Commission to assist the Buffalo Creek Watershed Association in construction of the fishing access.
House Speaker Tim Miley commended Delegates Phillips and Tomblin for their hard work on behalf of the Association and Logan County.
“Delegates Tomblin and Phillips recognize that the Association’s work is beneficial not just in terms of the environment and outdoor enjoyment for Logan County residents, but also serves to boost to tourism in the area, and therefore boosts economic development,” Speaker Miley noted. “The delegates made a strong case for how important that effort is to their district.”
