WILLIAMSON - The West Virginia State Police (WVSP) arrested a Delbarton resident, Tabitha Meade, age 30, over the weekend on felony charges of grand larceny and conspiring to commit grand larceny.

According to the criminal complaint obtained from Mingo County Magistrate Court, WVSP Trooper C.A. Douglas responded to a larceny complaint at the residence of Charles Cohenour of Varney in the early morning hours of Saturday. The victim stated that he had discovered several firearms missing from his home including a Remington Model 1100 12 gauge shotgun valued at approximately $500, a Winchester lever-action commemorative railroad spike 30/30 rifle with a value of $3,000 and a Browning 22 caliber pistol, valued at $800. In addition to the guns, the victim also relayed to the trooper that he was missing an air compressor ($125), a Car MD ($59), and a Dewalt brand saw ($100).

The home owner told the officer that when he left for work on Friday, September 13, the above listed items were still in his home and garage. Cohenour stated that he had left Meade at his house while he was at work. The victim alleged that he had reviewed calls on his phone that had come into his residence while he was gone and said that Jean Anne Gilco had made several calls to Meade during this time frame, and further disclosed that the two females had spent time together in prison.

The victim told police that he spoke with his neighbor and was informed that a vehicle matching the description of the one owned by Gilco was seen sitting in his driveway with its back hatch open earlier on Friday evening. At this time, Meade was located and taken into custody, and reportedly gave Trooper Douglas a recorded confession in which she admitted to assisting Gilco and a male subject she referred to as K.J.” with the robbery of the two of the guns and the air compressor, stating that she exchanged the stolen property for three Roxicodone tablets which she crushed and injected into her arm. She denied having any knowledge of the whereabouts of the other items but added that she was not with the other two alleged thieves the entire time they were inside the home.

Meade was arraigned before Mingo County Magistrate Dallas Toler and was remanded to the custody of the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $7,000 bail where she still remains.
