MADISON — Boone Memorial Hospital will host its annual Health Fair Friday, October 4, at the Madison Civic Center from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.


This year’s theme is ‘Travel the Road to Better Health.’ Volunteers, guests and vendors are encouraged to dress-up in theme attire to coincide with the theme.


“We will even award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize for the best costume,” said Karlie Belle Price, Event Coordinator/Marketing Director.


The fair will offer discounted blood work, vitamin D testing, flu shots, cancer prevention education, medication reviews and much more. Blood work and flu shots costs are as follows:


— CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) with Lipids II: $15 (Remember 12-14 hours fasting for Lipids)


— PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen Test): $20


— TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone Test): $10


— HgbA1C “Hemoglobin A1C”: $10


— Flu shot: $20


— Vitamin D (test your Vitamin D levels): $30


Between 55-60 vendors including local healthcare organizations and community groups will be on-hand to take blood pressures, provide diabetic and tobacco cessation information, offer breast cancer education including how to receive free and/or half price mammograms at BMH using its new digital mammography equipment. Prizes will be awarded every 15-30 minutes and free food will be served by the BMH Dietary Director, Richard Holliday and his staff throughout the day. Learn simple steps to make healthier foods enjoy mouth-watering food.


“We are also asking guests to bring in non-perishable food items to receive extra door prize tickets. All the food will be donated to the local Madison Baptist Church food pantry,” Price said.


BMH will offer a 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place prize for the best decorated booth/display. Entertainment including country line dancing, singing and karate demonstrations will take place throughout the day.
