$1M bond set in meth lab bust

West Virginia State Police responded to a report of a possible clandestine lab explosion on Cobblestone Lane at Stone Branch Bottom on Sun., Nov. 3.


Upon arrival, officers noticed a posted contaminated property sign posted on the front window of the building. Upon entering the residence, officers found three occupants and what was believed to be precursor to manufacture methamphetamine.


Officers also discovered Michael Ruggles, 46, attempting to manufacture what was believed to be two clandestine labs. The other two individuals were identified as Andrea Hager, 36, and James Donald Vickers, 41, both of Big Creek.


For Ruggles, this was the second time he had been charged with clandestine drug lab charges within the last 30 days. He was charged on Oct. 10 for conspiracy and operating a clandestine drug lab at the same location. His bail for the Oct. 10 charges was $25,000. For the current charges of two counts attempting/operating a clandestine drug lab, two counts of conspiracy and precursor to manufacture methamphetamine his bond was set at $1,000,000 (one million dollars). Logan County Magistrate Dwight Williamson also put a hold in place since he was already on bond for similar charges.


Hager was charged with two counts attempting/operating a clandestine drug lab, two counts of conspiracy and precursor to manufacture methamphetamine. Her bail for those charges was set at $150,000. She was also charged with battery and fugitive from justice. Bail for those charges was set at $50,000.


Vickers was charged with two counts attempting/operating a clandestine drug lab, two counts of conspiracy and precursor to manufacture methamphetamine. His bail was set at $100,000.


In other court news:


• Rebecca Leann Williamson, 22, was booked on Oct. 27 for DUI and registration violation. Her bail was set at $2,500.


• Aaron Thomas Caldwell, 29, was booked on Nov. 1 by the WVSP for obstructing and two counts of simple possession. His bail was set at $2,500.


• Joseph Daniels, 48, was booked on Nov. 3 by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department for domestic assault 1st/2nd (by threats). His bail was set at $2,500.


• Nicholas Gene Conner, 18, was booked on Nov. 3 by the Logan Police Department for public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, fraud and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $5,000.
