A Logan man has been charged with several offenses related to drugs.

James Morris Hiroskey, 30, of Logan, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, DUI (controlled substance) and fleeing in vehicle while DUI by the Logan County Sheriff Deputies.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 29, Hiroskey fled from a deputy near the Frito Lays Distribution Center at Holden. Another deputy came in contact which Hiroskey’s vehicle on Hillcrest Avenue at Holden followed Hiroskey onto Fairlawn Street where Hiroskey stopped.

The complaint states that as the vehicle slowed to a stop “a African American male subject got out and fled… then another African American male and African American female exited the vehicle and began to walk away from the vehicle.” The deputy placed Hiroskey under arrest and placed the other two individuals on the ground.

Hiroskey was given three field sobriety tests which he failed and allegedly told the deputy that he had smoked crack cocaine earlier and that the reason he ran was “that the individual who fled the scene on foot placed a semi-automatic firearm to his stomach and told him to run.”

While processing Hiroskey at the Sheriff’s Office, deputies reportedly found a small piece of white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine in Hiroskey’s hoodie picket. He was then taken to Logan Regional Medical Center for a blood specimen kit.

Hiroskey was arraigned on Dec. 29 where his bail was set at $7,500.
