A Harts resident notified the West Virginia State Police on February 15 that while he was gone, several items were stolen from his home.

According to the complaint, the victim told the Trooper that while he was gone and his wife was home, a DirecTV technician, identified as Harold Brewer, 26, of Kermit, came to fix their television.

The wife advised that while Brewer was in the home, he went in and out of several rooms that he had no reason to be in. When the victim arrived home, he noticed he was missing two guns, a brown wooden Remington Model 700 rifle with a scope and a black synthetic .22 caliber rifle.

Members of the Williamson State Police Detachment traveled to Brewer’s residence at Kermit and located the Remington in Brewer’s DirecTV work van.

Brewer reportedly told the Troopers that he had purchased the gun from the victim.

Brewer was charged with daytime burglary. His bail was set at $10,000.
