Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is sponsoring a free concert by the Appalachian Children’s Chorus at the Savas-Kostas Theater on their Logan Campus on Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m. The concert features ACC’s Logan based Cantare Choir as well as their top level choir, Concert Choir. Middle level choirs Con Brio and Chamber Choirs will also be joining them for the event.

“The wonderful community of Logan is why we love coming each year. We also love celebrating the wonderful children of Cantare and how children’s lives are enriched through music,” said ACC Founding and Artistic Director Selina Cosby Midkiff.

“My children have worked very hard and I am so proud of them,” said Lisa Anderson, Cantare Director.

The Appalachian Children’s Chorus was founded in 1990, and originally had 12 members. It has grown to nearly 200 members today.

ACC has been named the official children’s chorus of West Virginia as well as ambassadors of music of West Virginia. It is said to be a rich, exciting and educational experience for West Virginia’s children because it is much more than notes on a page.

Information about the Cantare choir will be announced during the concert. Immediately following the concert, Anderson, will be enrolling children who are interested in joining.
