On Wed., May 14 at approximately 6 p.m. near the Holden area of Logan, Deputies J.L. Mathis and M.B. Carter were dispatched by Logan Co. 911 to respond to a two vehicle motor vehicle crash near the Whitman exit in the South bound lane of US Rt 119 involving an UTV.
Upon their arrival, the officers observed a 2013 red Polaris RZR side by side that had been hit by a 2009 silver Ford F-150 truck.
The deputies are reporting that the Polaris had entered US Rt 119 from the Western edge of the Southbound lane and traveled directly into the path of the Ford truck. The driver of the truck tried to stop, but he was unable to do so before striking the Polaris.
The driver of the truck was found to be Thurmond Lee, 61 of Chapmanville. Lee was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and was later released.
The driver of the Polaris was found to be Robert Farley Jr, 22 of Whitman, who was accompanied by a juvenile passenger. Mr. Farley sustained critical injuries and was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital by Air-Evac. The passenger of the Polaris RZR was a 14 year old juvenile who also received critical injuries and was taken to Logan Regional Medical Center by ambulance and then was flown by Health Net to CAMC General.
