The Logan County Sheriff’s Department has released new details concerning their investigation of the drowning case that occured in Holden.
On Sat., June 7, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene of an unattended death at 506 Bungalow Woods. Deputy Jason Mathis and Cpl. Brian Cobb responded to the residence.
Upon arrival, it was learned that Shaun Delane Elmore, 34, of Logan, was located in the pool by individuals at the residence.
Sheriff Deputies went to investigate after learning of Elmore’s location, but were unable to see the victim due to the condition of the water in the pool.
About the same time, medical personnel arrived on the scene and located the victim at the bottom of the pool. After the initial investigation, Elmore was transported to the Logan Regional Medical Center. County Coroner Mike Casey also arrived at the hospital to assist in the investigation.
Tests were performed which showed a blood alcohol level of .161. Elmore also tested positive for cocaine.
During the investigation, the officers have found that the homeowners were out of town on vacation and that Jeremy Whitt, a family member not living at the residence, had invited several individuals to the residence for an apparent party without the homeowner’s consent.
Individuals present at the residence at the time of the drowning are cooperating with the Sheriff’s Department.
This incident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
According to Elmore’s obituary, he was a U.S. Army veteran, an employee of Little Caesar’s, as well as a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Holden.
