Family Leadership First will host a free mini-conference for Logan County entitled “Engage the Leader Within” on June 30 at the Logan County Public Library. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the workshop will be from 9 a.m-3:30 p.m.
Family Leadership First’s mission is to strengthen the knowledge and role of families to help build stronger families. Their vision is to have families making positive changes within their communities.
FLF received a grant from the state and decided to use that money to bring their resources to the people of Logan County.
FLF does this by having mini conferences all over the state, and by collaborating with other agencies throughout the state. It is important that individuals become leaders in their homes and communities and to know that they can have a voice and be involved.
Ginny Gattlieb from West Virginia Parent Training and Information Inc. will present on Special Education and what families need to know about Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Vanessa Vangilder of Family Leadership First will present on The American Disabilities Act and how to interact with people with disabilities. This will allow participants to increase their awareness of language and behaviors that enable positive interaction, as well as a short discussion about famous people that has disabilities and brief history.
Joyce Floyd, Family Leadership First, will have a presentation about how individuals and families can become leaders in their home and community.
Step by Step will present last with a Wellness Workshop.
