During Logan County Commission’s final meeting for the 2013-14 fiscal year, County Clerk John Turner addressed the commission about a voting precinct change.

Precinct 21 in Amherstdale which is currently located at the Amherstdale State Road Garage has had some issues. Problems with pigeons flying around, droppings and temperature gauging have lead to poll workers refusing to work in those conditions.

The solution Turner has provided, upon speaking to Logan County Schools Superintendent Phyllis Doty, is to combine precinct 21 with precinct 20. Precinct 20 is located in Accoville at Buffalo Grade School.

Commissioner Danny Ellis questioned to be certain that there have been no problems in previous cases where two precincts were combined. Turner assured him that there have not been, and that a new law has been passed stating that two precincts located within a mile of one another can be legally combined.

Turner also says that everything is handicap accessible at the precinct 20 voting site.

The motion to combine the two precincts was passed unanimously by the county commission.

Voters will be notified of the change before the upcoming General Election in November.
