A new cooking class for parents or caregivers of children who are living with diabetes is being offered at Mallory Church of God.
Cooking Matters, a six week course that starts on Tues., Aug. 26 from 10 a.m.-noon, is a great set of classes that allows people to try cooking and tasting new healthy dishes for their families. According to the Bruce S. Chertow Diabetes Center at Marshall University, the last group of parents in Logan who took the classes enjoyed talking and meeting other parents who have the same problems getting their children to try new foods.
Every week there is something new to learn and the classes are free and fun.
Are you tired of fixing the same old foods? Here is the chance to get fresh ideas and recipes. Class members get to take home the ingredients to fix these foods at home for their families. After attending the six classes, everyone will also receive a 60 page recipe book.
To register for the classes, call Elizabeth Tackett at the Buffalo Creek Memorial Library at 304 583-7887.
This Cooking Matters class is sponsored by the HEALTHY Logan Coalition, Mallory Church of God, Marshall Health and WVU Extension Service.
