In the 2014-2015 school year, all students entering the 7th and 12th grades in West Virginia must show proof of age-appropriate Tdap and MCV4 vaccinations before entering school.

According to the West Virginia Department of Education, there will be no official grace period permitted. Unimmunized students will not be permitted to begin school. Currently, 411 out of 929 Logan County 7th and 12th grade students have not been vaccinated. All vaccinated students should verify their school has received a record of immunization.

Failure to comply with the state immunization requirements could result in truancy-related court proceedings.

The Logan County Health Department will be providing vaccines for students from 8-11 a.m. and 12:30-3 p.m. this week. Students must bring their shot records and students 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No appointment necessary. For more information on the vaccinations, call 304-792-8630.

The first day of school for students is Thurs., Aug. 21, 2014.
