Congressman Nick Rahall announced Friday nearly $2 million in USDA Rural Development funding for Phase II of the Ben Creek water project in Mingo County.
USDA Rural Development will provide a $985,800 grant and a $1 million low-interest loan to extend public water service along Ben Creek and in the Stafford Magisterial District of Mingo County. This funding comes on top of previous USDA funding Rahall had announced for the project last year, and will bring higher quality water to approximately 110 additional households.
“We must continue making investments until we reach a time when every faucet flows as expected, with clean, clear, and drinkable water,” Rahall said. “That is precisely why, throughout my career, I have battled to preserve federal programs – like USDA Rural Development’s – that aid our communities in developing water and sewer systems, which are the critical foundation for building economic opportunities.”
