CHARLESTON — United Mine Workers will hold its 76th Annual Labor Day Celebration at the John Slack Memorial Park in Racine on Mon., Sept. 1. Featured speakers will include United Mine Workers of America International President Cecil E. Roberts, W.Va. Secretary of State Natalie Tennant, (D), Rep. Nick Rahall (D), and W.Va. State Treasurer John Perdue (D).

The festivities will kick off at 11:30 a.m., and there will be a pig roast starting at noon. President Roberts will speak at 1 p.m., followed by Tennant and Rahall.

Entertainers throughout the day include Elaine Purkey, Abby Bolton and One Eyed Jack.

Other speakers include W.Va. AFL-CIO President Kenny Perdue; Eddie Hendricks, Chairman of the Boone County Commission, and Elaine Harris, International Representative for Communication Workers of America (CWA).
