“But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 115:8)
The Lord wants us to give glory unto his name, and not unto anything or anyone else. Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” With thankful hearts we should share with them that our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
Their gods are idols of silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot spell; they have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.” (vs. 2-8)
Those who fear the Lord and trust in Him will find that He is their help and shield. The psalmist revealed that the highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to the children of men. The dead do not praise the Lord, neither nay of those that go down into silence; it is the godly who extol the Lord both now and forever.
When we as Christians think of how blessed we are by our king and loving heavenly Father, our hearts should be filled with praise because of His goodness to us. The words of David in Psalm 139:14 remind us that we praise him because we are fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are His works; and that our soul knows right well.
David also could sing of God’s power, he will sing aloud of His mercy in the morning; for God had been his defense and refuge in his day of trouble. (Psalm 59:16) May we never forget the Lord is the giver of every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of Lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17) How blessed we are!
We will bless the Lord of Lords,
From this time forth and for evermore,
And because of our gratitude to you,
The hearts of your people do soar.
For we can never praise you enough,
Because of your goodness and your love,
And we strive to tell you, O Lord,
That every good gift is from above.
Dear Father, we gratefully offer up to you, our gratitude and our thanksgiving for many blessings. IN Jesus holy name we pray. Amen.
