CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School golf team began the season on Aug. 9 with a decisive victory over Tug Valley at the Logan Country Club in Chapmanville.

The Tigers shot a 113 for the day, beating Tug Valley by 56 strokes. The Panthers finished with a 169.

Jacob Workman fired a 2-0ver 37 to lead Chapmanville. William Copley and Forrest Roberts each shot a 38 for the day. Jacob Blevins had a 47, Dakota Saunders a 51, Austin Evans a 57 and Casey Vance a 58.

Tug Valley was led by Tristan Maynard’s 52.

“I was surprised with our play today,” Chapmanville veteran golf coach Tommy Kirk said. “We have not looked that good in practice. We have Jacob Workman and William Copley back varsity-wise from last year, along wth Forrest Roberts.
Jacob and William have been solid for a couple seasons. Forrest is a good player, but we need some of our other players to step up and push for that fourth and fifth spots.”
The Chapmanville golf team was back in action on Friday at Big Bend with the Capital City Classic.
