HARTS — Make it 5-0.

The Harts Middle School boys’ basketball team won its fifth straight game to open the season with last Friday’s 45-31 victory at home over Sherman in the Larry Williamson Memorial Tournament at the Harts gym.

The tourney is named after Williamson, a member of the Harts 1964 team — the first team at HHS to win a sectional championship. Williamson was killed a couple of years later in Vietnam.

Drew Williamson led Harts Middle with 21 points in the win. He made two 3-pointers and pulled down six rebounds.

Kyle Browning had 14 points, while C.J. Dalton had six and Carson Toney and Ty Sturm had two each.

Harts outrebounded the Tide 30-27.

The Lions led 17-2 after one quarter, 22-3 at the half and 41-17 after three. Sherman outscored Harts 14-4 in the fourth to set the final score.

— Area middle school boys’ and girls’ basketball coaches are asked to e-mail results and statistics for each game to Logan Banner Sports Editor Paul Adkins at: www.padkins@civitasmedia.com. So far, no scores have been sent to the Banner from the Logan Middle School boys and girls basketball teams, the Chapmanville Middle School boys’ basketball team or the Man Middle School boys or girls basketball teams.
