Heading into play on Tuesday night the Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team was ranked No. 5 in the state in this week’s Associated Press boys’ high school basketball poll.

The Tigers were 6-1 going into last night’s home game against county rival Man.

Chapmanville was tied for fifth in the state with Poca (5-1), a regional opponent and fellow Cardinal Conference team.

The Tigers and the Dots were scheduled to play each other last Friday night at Poca High School but the game was postponed due to the ongoing water crisis in the Charleston area and surrounding counties.

Chapmanville and Poca have yet to play each other this season.

The two teams revised their schedules on Monday.

On Feb. 11, Chapmanville was originally scheduled to host Poca. The game that night has been flipped to Poca High School. The first meeting between the two schools has now been rescheduled for Feb. 1 at Chapmanville.

Washington (8-0) is ranked first this week in Class AAA, while Robert C. Byrd (8-0) is No. 1 in Class AA. Huntington St. Joe (10-0) is No. 1 in Class A this week.

Tug Valley (4-2), a winner of two straight state titles in 2A and Single-A, is No. 7 in this week’s Class A poll.

Scott (5-4), another Cardinal Conference team, is No. 10 in 2A. The Skyhawks are also in Chapmanville’s sectional.

On the girls’ side, Logan (6-3) is ranked No. 7 in Class AAA. Parkersburg South (8-0), which beat Logan in last year’s Triple-A state championship game, is still No. 1. The Lady Patriots made headlines recently with a 110-23 win over Point Pleasant.

Westside (6-0) is first in 2A and Huntington St. Joe (10-3) is No. 1 in the Single-A poll.

Scott (8-0) is fourth and Sissonville (7-2) sixth in Class AA. Both are Cardinal Conference teams. Unranked Chapmanville beat Sissonville 48-46 last week at home.

Here is a listing of this week’s polls:
