The Greenbrier East Spartans dropped the Logan High School basketball team to 4-6 with Friday night’s 81-64 win at Greenbrier East High School.
Rondale Watson scored 20 points to lead the Spartans. Obi Romeo, Josh Tunstalle and Tyler Canterbury each had 16 points for East.
Zac Acord paced Logan with 22 points. Bryden “Worm” Street also reached double digits in scoring with 10 points.
Braxton Goff tallied eight points for the Wildcats, while Zak Miller netted six and Trevor Abbott five. Donnie Toppings and Hunter Neal had three each. Alex Toler, Jalen Cook and Benny Adkins had two each. Brenton Vance chipped in with one point.
The Spartans jumped on top of Logan 22-14 after one quarter of play and never really looked back. Greenbrier East led by 18 at the half, 47-29 and held a 67-50 advantage after three. Both teams scored 14 points in the fourth period.
The Wildcats are back in action Tuesday night at Tug Valley. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the TVHS gym. Tug Valley, which has won two straight state titles in Class AA and Single-A, is 4-0 against Logan in the last four meetings.
LHS then hosts Class A Greater Beckley Christian next Saturday night at Willie Akers Arena. After that, Logan goes to 3A sectional rival Huntington on Jan. 27 and hosts Belfry (Ky.) on Jan. 30.
Counting last year’s 8-17 record, Logan is 12-23 over its last 35 games.
