After a week of very little action, snow days and called off ballgames, Logan County’s six high school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will try to get back into the swing of things this week.

A full slate of games are on the schedule, weather permitting, of course.

On Monday night, the Logan High School boys’ basketball team was scheduled to play at Huntington but the game was postponed due to weather and moved to Feb. 10. The Man High School girls were set to play at Greater Beckley Christian but that game was in doubt as well.

The Logan boys are 4-6 and haven’t played a game in 11 days. That was back on Jan. 17 with an 81-64 loss at Greenbrier East.

The Wildcats’ games last week at Tug Valley and at home on Saturday night against Greater Beckley Christian were called off due to snowy weather. LHS was scheduled to honor the 1964 Class AAA state championship basketball team on Saturday. No makeup date has been announced.

Action is slated to resume on Tuesday night as the Logan girls (9-4) are set to host Tolsia at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena. The Lady Cats, ranked No. 7 in the state in Class AAA, last played on Jan. 20 with a 74-60 victory at Winfield. Logan’s game last week at Westside was postponed.

Also on Tuesday night, the Chapmanville Regional High School girls are set to play at Sherman and the Chapmanville boys are scheduled to host Herbert Hoover.

The Chapmanville girls currently stand at 9-5 overall following last Friday night’s 48-40 loss at Herbert Hoover in Cardinal Conference action. The CRHS boys are 9-2 after falling last Friday night at home to surprising Wayne, 62-59 in overtime.

Action picks up on Wednesday night as the Man High School boys (5-6) are set to play at Tug Valley in a makeup game. The Billies lost a 62-60 heartbreaker at home last Friday night to Class A No. 1-ranked Huntington St. Joe. Man’s contest on Saturday night at Belfry (Ky.) was called off as well.

On Thursday night, the Logan boys are slated to host Belfry, while the Chapmanville girls host Poca. The Man Lady Billies go to Charleston Catholic.

Four games are on tap on Friday. The Logan girls go to Morgantown, while Man hosts Phelps (Ky.) in a boys/girls doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. Also on Friday, the Chapmanville boys host Tolsia.

On Saturday night, the CRHS boys are slated to host the Poca Dots in a showdown of top 10 teams.
