CHAPMANVILLE — The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team ran its record to 11-5 overall on the season and 8-1 in the Cardinal Conference with Thursday night’s 53-33 win at home over the Poca Dots at Chapmanville’s Danny Godby Gymnasium.

The Lady Tigers swept the season series with the Dots, also winning 48-37 on the road.

Kristin DesRocher paced Chapmanville with 15 points, while Abby Marcum tossed in 14. Autumn Blankenship added nine and Hillary Hainer seven, while Shian Meeks and NeNe Osborne had four each.

Harley Hutchins led Poca with a 13-point effort.

Chapmanville led 16-9 after one quarter, 21-17 at the half and then outscored Poca 20-7 in the thrid to grab a 41-24 lead after three. CRHS outscored the Dots 12-9 in the fourth.

The Lady Tigers made 21-of-46 of their shots from the floor for 45.7 percent. Poca was just 10-for-41 for 24.4 percent. Chapmanville was 6-of-11 from the free throw line while the Dots were 9-for-13. CRHS outrebounded Poca 30-24.

DesRocher also led Chapmanville in rebounds with five. She also had five steals and three assists.

The Lady Tigers have five games left in the regular season beginning with next Thursday night’s contest at rival Scott. Chapmanville is then at Tug Valley on Feb. 10, before hosting Herbert Hoover on Feb. 12 and Mingo Central on Feb. 13. The finale is set for Feb. 18 at Sissonville.

Charleston Catholic 62,

Man 33

CHARLESTON — Charleston Catholic routed the Man High School girls’ basketball team 62-33 on Thursday night at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Complex in Charleston.

Anna Whelen poured in a game-high 20 points to lead Catholic. Vida Imani tossed in 16 for the Irish (10-3).

Mogan Conn led Man (3-9) with 14 points. Mika McCoy had 13.

The Irish led the Lady Billies 15-4 after one quarter, 28-17 at the half and 46-27 after three. A 16-8 edge in the fourth by Catholic set the final score.

Man was scheduled to host Phelps (Ky.) on Friday night. The Lady Billies are at Wyoming East on Monday night.

Morgantown 59,

Logan 49

Morgantown gained a measure of revenge on the Logan High School girls’ basketball team with Friday night’s 59-49 victory over the Lady Cats at Morgantown High School.

The Lady Mohigans (10-6), ranked No. 10 in the state in Class AAA, had lost 59-44 earlier in the season at Logan.

Morgantown built an 18-5 lead in the first quarter but No. 6-ranked Logan (10-5) cut the deficit to 42-39 going into the fourth quarter.

It was not enough as the Lady Mohigans outscored the Lady Cats 17-10 to notch the win.

Leading Morgantown were Olivia Seggie with 14 points. Syndey Holloway had 12, while Sammie Parks and Brie Giuliani netted 11 apiece.

Shayna Gore scored 23 points and Lexi Hines had 15 to lead LHS. Summer Collins added four, Hannah Kolovich three and Hannah Adkins and Ashton Spry had two each.

Morgantown led 28-23 at the half.

Logan is scheduled to host Class AA No. 1-ranked Westside on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
