The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team and the Logan High School girls’ hoop squad are still ranked in the top 10 in this week’s Associated Press Basketball Poll.

Chapmanville is 11-3 and ranked No. 7 in the state in Class AA. The Tigers fell one spot this week.

The Logan girls, which stand at 10-5, are No. 8 in Class AAA. The Lady Cats dropped two spots in this week’s poll.

Three Class AAA sectional opponents of Logan are also in the top 10.

Huntington (14-2) is fourth, Spring Valley (12-3) fifth and Cabell Midland (9-2) seventh. The Lady Cats will battle all three in the upcoming sectional tourney at Huntington High School.

Chapmanville’s girls (11-5) received two votes and are rated No. 12 in Class AA.

Scott High School’s girls, who play in Chapmanville’s section and are in the Cardinal Conference, are 9-3 and No. 8 in the state this week.

Sissonville’s girls, another Cardinal Conference team, are 10-2 and fifth in the state in 2A.

The Lady Tigers have beaten both Scott and Sissonville this season.

Poca’s boys (11-1) are No. 3 in the state in Class AA. Chapmanville lost to Poca 53-43 in Saturday night’s showdown at CRHS.

The Logan girls have seven games left to play in the regular season.

The Lady Cats were scheduled to host Westside on Tuesday night. The game was originally slated to be played on Monday night but was postponed due to weather. Westside, the Class AA state champions two years ago and last year’s state runner-up, is third in the state this week with a 10-2 record.

Logan hosts Greenbrier East on Feb. 10, goes to Lincoln County on Feb. 12 and then hosts South Charleston on Feb. 15. The Lady Cats close out on Feb. 17 at home against Winfield, before playing Class A No. 1 Huntington St. Joe on Feb. 18 and then played at Westside on Feb. 19 in the finale.

The Chapmanville boys are scheduled to return to the hardwood on Wednesday night at home against Mingo Central. It’s Senior Night and the last scheduled home game for the Tigers.

The Tigers then play at Scott on Feb. 7, at Poca on Feb. 11, at Tolsia on Feb. 14 and at Wayne on Feb. 21. CRHS goes to Sissonville on Feb. 22 and then to Man on Feb. 25 in the regular season finale.
