Tigers easily defeat Lincoln County, 79-38

HAMLIN — The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team had no trouble on Monday night in Hamlin as the Tigers rolled to a 79-38 victory over Lincoln County.


Chapmanville, now 13-5 on the season, swept the season series with the Panthers, also winning 68-36 at home on Dec. 23.


The Tigers, tied for ninth place in the state with Roane County in the statewide Class AA poll, used a 34-7 run to break a 7-7 deadllock as Chapmanville took a 41-14 lead.


Josh Butcher led CRHS with 22 points as he hit five 3-pointers. Butcher is the third-leading scorer in the Cardinal Conference.


Senior Brady Cox also netted 19 points for the Tigers.


Chapmanville is scheduled to play at Wayne on Friday night. The Pioneers beat the Tigers 62-59 in overtime in the previous meeting this season at Chapmanville.


Man 64,


Mount View 56


WELCH — The Man High School boys’ basketball team evened its record to 9-9 on the season with Monday night’s 64-56 win at Mount View in a makeup game.


No further information was available on the game as of presstime.


The Hillbillies were scheduled to play on Tuesday night at home against Belfry, Ky. Man then goes to Class A No. 2 Huntington St. Joe on Friday before hosting Class AA No. 9 and county rival Chapmanville on Feb. 25 in the regular season finale.


GIRLS


Tug Valley 71,


Man 67


MAN – Adreana Vance led Tug Valley with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists to help her team to a 71-67 victory over the Man High School girls’ basketball team at the Man Fieldhouse on Monday night.


Hannah Armstrong scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Katie Robinson chipped in 12 points. Emily Baisden and Elizabeth Dotson added eight points each.


Tug Valley was 23-for-44 at the free throw line for 52 percent, while Man was 19-for-35 for 54 percent.


No Man statistics were available.


The Lady Billies (6-11) were slated to play at Greater Beckley Christian on Tuesday night.
