GLENHAYES — The Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team had an easy time on Wednesday night at Tolsia in a makeup game with the Rebels as the Tigers rolled to an 80-41 win at the Tolsia High School gym in Glenhayes.

Junior guard Josh Butcher had another big game for CRHS as he hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points. All of his 3s came in the first half.

In Tuesday’s win at county rival Man on Tuesday Butcher nailed eight treys and had 32 points on the night.

Wednesday’s game was Chapmanville’s regular season finale. The Tigers closed out at 17-5 overall and 10-4 in the Cardinal Conference. Chapmanville finished third in the conference standings. Poca was the Cardinal Conference champions, while Scott was second.

Kenny Plumley added 13 points for the Tigers.

Chapmanville is scheduled to open play in the Class AA sectional tourney with next Wednesday’s 8 p.m. contest against Mingo Central (11-11) at Logan High School’s Willie Akers Arena. The Tigers defeated the Miners twice during the regular season.

The sectional tourney begins with Saturday’s play-in game as No. 5 seed Tolsia (1-20) takes on county rival and fellow Cardinal Conference team Wayne (11-10) at 7 p.m. at Logan.

The Wayne-Tolsia winner advances to play No. 1 seed Scott (15-6), another Cardinal team, on Wednesday at 6 p.m., also at Logan.

The two semifinal winners square off in the sectional championship game on Friday, March 7 at LHS. Both teams move on to regional play.

CRHS, coached by Allan Hatcher, is riding a five-game winning streak.
