MAN — The Man High School softball lost an 8-6 extra inning game on Thursday night at home to the Sherman Lady Tide.


With the score knotted at 6-6 after seven innings Sherman scored two runs in the top of the eighth to take an 8-6 advantage.


Sherman hurler Whitney Walls was then able to get the Man girls out in the bottom of the eighth inning to preserve the victory.


Walls pitched a complete game, giving up six runs and six hits and had two strikeouts and two walks with two hit batters.


Man’s Madison Keffer suffered the heart-breaking loss for the Lady Billies (6-5). She allowed juste three hits.


Sherman committed eight errors in the game.


In the top of the eighth, Sherman’s Sarah Seagrave reached base on a Man error to start the frame. Keffer then walked Baylee Harless. Jordan Lewis then got a sacrifice bunt to move both runners over to second and third.


Hali Jarrell then walked to load the bases.


Keffer then hit Paige Halstead to walk in a run, giving the Lady Tide a 8-7 lead.


Nicki Santonio then drove in another run with a sac fly ball to score another run, pushing the lead to 8-6. Keffer then got Whitney Laws to pop up to end the inning.


Man came to bat in the bottom of the eighth inning of Walls and had one last chance.


Hannah Harvey reached on a error, before Kelli Grimmett popped up to the catcher Hali Jarrell for the first out.


Freshman Sidney Keffer reached on an error by the pitcher to put runners on first and second with one out.


Cari Blair then grounded out to shortstop for the second out, putting Man down to its final out as both run moved up into scoring position.


Keffer then hit a shot to third but Hayley Buzzard snared the ball to end the game.


The Lady Billies have dropped three out of their last four games.


Man was slated to travel to Van on Saturday before going to Westside next Tuesday and hosting Wyoming East next Wednesday over Spring Break.


Man then plays April 17-19 in the Best of the Best Tournament at Buffalo.
